Herald of Maranatha:
Fresh From God
Topic: Rising above evil predicaments (Day 99)
1 Samuel 4 -8 (Daily bible reading)
Text of focus: 1 Samuel 4:21-22 KJV
And she named the child I-chabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. [22] And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
The text addresses the end of a destiny at birth. People have always named a child based on the situation at birth, this has been the custom, even in the bible days. But unfortunately, names have a lot to do with destiny fulfillment.
God had to change the names of people for them to fulfill His purpose.
Abram was changed to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Jacob to Israel.
Unfortunately, we never heard of I-chabod again.
It's a terrible predicament for a man whose destiny was intercepted by an evil name. Jabez had a similar situation, but unlike I-chabod, he prayed unto God and was delivered.
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 KJV
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. [10] And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Whatever your predicaments, the Lord can deliver you from them if you seek Him.
Break away from every strange predicament today.
