Text of focus: Numbers 30:10-13 KJV
And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath; [11] And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. [12] But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the Lord shall forgive her. [13] Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.
The focus text addresses the relationship that God endorses between the husband and wife.
It was God who instituted marriage so only God can tell how it should be operating.
There are lots of discrepancies in the roles of the husband and the wife in making marriage work. These discrepancies came from gender equality, sexual orientations, and other present-day beliefs. In any case, God's counsel stands supreme.
God makes it clear that the husband has the right to overrule a pledge his wife made, which doesn't mean women have no rights, there's a role for the man and the woman in marriage.
A woman is equal to any man anywhere, but she should submit to her husband according to the scripture.
Ephesians 5:22-23,25 KJV
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
The two roles are to be independent of each other, the man is not to love only if the woman submits, and neither is the woman supposed to submit if the man love, you are to do your part irrespective.
Can your marriage be perfect?
Yes, if you follow the instructions of God, the creator of the institution.
A perfect marriage comes from the husband playing his role to love and the wife also submitting according to the scripture.
May the Lord give us a Christian home.
