Text of focus: Deuteronomy 18:15,20-22 KJV

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; [20] But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. [21] And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? [22] When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

It is important to be able to identify when they manifest, so as to escape deception. God, by Moses, made this clear to the children of Israel. Deception is actually a key phenomenon to the end-time activities. 

Why must we identify a false prophet?

False prophets are agents of darkness, sent by the devil to deceive man to forsake the truth and the way of God. When they are exposed, they can no longer achieve their aim of deceiving the people.

False prophets are liars like the devil their father, they are manipulators and destroyers. Everyone has to flee from them.

A few more checks to identify a false prophet:

1. Their prophecies do not glorify God.

2. They make merchandise of people.

3. They exhibit wicked works, such as sexual immorality. 

4. They have no fruit of the Spirit.

5. They give good news to the flesh and not to the soul.

6. They are boastful.

When identified flee from them flee!

Are there still true prophets in our days?

Yes, there are true prophets, and you can identify them by their fruits. They glorify God and their lives exhibit the fruits of the Spirit.

Summary 

In the chapters read today (Deu 17 - 20), Moses was giving God's instructions to the children of Israel.
