Herald of Maranatha:
Text of focus: Numbers 21:5-6 KJV
And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. [6] And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
It is very dangerous to make Murmuring against God a habit. From past studies, you could see that the children of Israel have been Murmuring against God over every little thing, for water, for food, for flesh and now it's for the lightness of the bread.
Other times God was pacified but this time they faced the wrath of God.
God has permitted you to ask Him for everything you need, so it is wrong to murmur. You need to understand the difference between making a request to God and Murmuring before Him.
God does not resist your request but He detests your murmurings.
1 Corinthians 10:10 KJV
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
You need to be thankful to God in every situation and learn to make your request known to God.
Philippians 4:6 KJV
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Summary
In the chapters read today (Num 21 -22), we learned about the murmuring of the children of Israel and how they were smitten by the serpent, and how God instructed Moses to make a brazen serpent on a pole lifted up for the healing of all who will look upon it. Jesus later explained this as a symbol of the kind of death He would die for the salvation of all mankind that will look unto Him. Balak engaged Balaam to curse the children of Israel.
