Gen 38 to 40 (Daily bible reading)
Text of focus: Genesis 40:23 KJV
Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Something interesting from the story of Joseph at this point. Joseph had been sold as a slave to Egypt and he was cast into prison based on a false accusation. God was with him through it all. In the midst of his trials, he still served with concern and made other prisoners happy as much as he could.
Genesis 40:6-8 KJV
And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. [7] And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly today? [8] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.
Joseph interpreted a dream for one of Pharaoh's servants, he asked him to please speak about him to Pharaoh, but he forgot him in prison. Until God made Pharaoh have a dream that requires interpretation.
Who is that person you have forgotten?
Think of someone who had helped you in the past and you've forgotten, and reach out. That person might be in need now, reach out, don't be like that butler who forgot Joseph. Just a call could be fine. Some people died of loneliness, anxiety, and boredom because no one seem to care about them. Make that call now!
Summary
In the chapters read today (Gen 38 to 40), we learned about how Joseph was sold to Potiphar in Egypt. Potiphar's wife got Joseph into prison, but God was still with Joseph, and everything he laid his hands on prospered.
