Gen 27 to 29 (Daily bible reading)
Text of focus: Genesis 25:30,32-34 KJV
And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage ; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. [32] And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? [33] And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. [34] Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
The text of focus in today's reading talks about Esau's choice.
God has decided the destiny entire world and the devil prophetically when he said
👇🏽
Genesis 3:15 KJV
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The devil's headache has been who will fulfill this promise of bruising his head, and the expectation of humanity has been when and from where is the savior coming?
God has always been seeking a man through which He will establish the covenant, and He found Abraham. Abraham had only a son with Sarah, Isaac automatically carried it now, and Isaac had two sons. The elder was on the line of fulfilling this covenant by right, but he despised it, while the younger bargained to be a lawful carrier of the covenant.
This destiny transaction happened just with a pottage.
Romans 9:13 KJV
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Esau never cared about the covenant of God, which was the most important of God's agenda for humanity, hence God hated him.
Mark 8:33c KJV - for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
Are you like Esau?
Are you trading your destiny for temporary pleasure?
You are carrying a great destiny, that's why the devil is after you, do not lose the glory.
This is the case with fornicators and adulterers, they constantly trade on their destiny.
I pray every negative destiny transaction that has taken place in your life be reversed in Jesus' name.
Summary
In the chapters read today (Gen 27 to 29), we learned about the birth of Esau and Jacob, the prophecy about the children's future. We saw the manner of person both they grew up to become. Esau despised God's eternal project flowing through his family and Jacob claimed it, Esau lost it forever, and there was no place of repentance found for him. May we not lose God's covenant over our lives in Jesus' name.
