Job 35‐37 (Daily bible reading)
Text of focus: Job 36:11-12 KJV
If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. [12] But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
The sovereign God has given us choices to make in life. His Spirit will not strive with man, so man will determine his destiny within the provisions of God.
If you want to spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure, you just have to obey God.
Though God wants the best for us, His thoughts towards us are good Jer 29:11, He will not force man against his own choices.
To obey God is to do His will.
To obey God is to serve Him wholeheartedly.
To obey God is to submit to His will.
To obey God is to abstain from sin by keeping His word in your heart.
To obey God is to make His word your meditation.
To obey God is to love Him with your whole heart.
To obey God sounds easy, but not for the carnal mind, it requires the help of the Holy Spirit.
You must live in total obedience to God always. There is a reward for obedience and there are consequences for disobedience, it's your choice to obey or not.
will you obey God?
Ish 1:19 KJV
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Summary
In the chapters read today (Job 35 to 37), Elihu breaks the silence as the other friends couldn't respond to Job, he spoke immensely about the greatness of God. Note that the knowledge of God's greatness is not for the purpose of Judging your brethren. We must be careful not to sin against God by our perception of others.
Again, there are many things we do not understand, let's rather keep quiet about them.
James 3:2 KJV
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
God has not called us to judge and condemn others.
Job insisted on defending himself while doing that he also said a few wrong things.
