HOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Eye covenant (Day11)

Herald of Maranatha:

Fresh From God
Topic:  Eye covenant (Day11)

Job 29‐31  (Daily bible reading)

Text of focus: Job 31:1 KJV

I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

The world is fast becoming more sexually immoral and devices for sin are becoming handier.

Every advert shows a naked person, thereby polluting the hearts of viewers. Porn and immoral websites pop up regularly on the Internet, and both Young and old are getting more corrupt in their ways. Singles commit fornication and say they had fun, married commit adultery and blame it on their spouse's unavailability (it is important that husband and wife intentionally satisfy each other without selfishness)

1 Corinthians 7:4-5 KJV

The wife hath not the power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. [5] Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

Notwithstanding, you have no justification for committing adultery, you're as guilty as your spouse who wasn't available.

The desire of God is that we are holy in the midst of a sinful, corrupt and perverse world.

Philippians 2:15 KJV

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

How do you keep yourself holy in the midst of this immoral world?

Job in his days made a covenant with his eyes and kept his focus on God.

Every sin begins from the heart, sanctify your heart, and do not let it process evil thoughts.

Though every sinner gets someone to blame his sin on, yet it doesn’t justify the sinful action.

Summary

In the chapters read today (Job 29 to 31), Job's friends want to force Job into accepting that he is a sinner. They were clueless about the cause of his calamity, they wanted to justify God by condemning Job. They confidently boasted in their wisdom and they were certain that Job had sinned. We must be careful not to sin against God by our perception of others.

Again, there are many things we do not understand, let's rather keep quiet about them.

James 3:2 KJV

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

God has not called us to judge and condemn others.

Job insisted on defending himself while doing that he also said a few wrong things. Job 30:1

Job 30:1 ERV

"But now men younger than I make fun of me- men whose fathers were too worthless to put with my sheep dogs.

That sounds a bit proud, sometimes you don't need to always defend yourself, keeping quiet might be the best.

Question

How do I overcome the pressure to sin?
