Topic: The second advent of Christ (Discipleship, Eschatology)

Jude 1:14-15 KJV
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, [15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

The word advent means the arrival of a notable person. So when we hear about the second advent of Christ it simply refers to the second arrival of Christ. Every prophecy of the scripture will be fulfilled.

Matthew 24:35 KJV

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

If the scripture prophesied, the first advent, the virgin birth, and it happened, obviously the prophecy of the second advent must also be fulfilled.

Isaiah 7:14 KJV

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The second advent was prophesied as well by the same prophet.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 35:4 KJV

Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

Jesus will come into this world again as a victorious king to reign. Many people mistake the Rapture for the second advent, they are two distinct events. At Rapture Rapture Jesus appears in the skies and all the saints will meet Him there.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 KJV

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

At the second advent Jesus will come into the world to rule the world. It was prophesied that He will descend at the same place from where He ascended.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; [11] Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Prophesied by the Prophets.

Zechariah 14:3-4 KJV

Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. [4] And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

In the heat of the Great Tribulation, when the armies of the Antichrist would have encamped around the hiding place of the children of Israel, Israel will cry unto God as they did afore time. The Jesus their Messiah will descend in the way they have been expecting Him. He will deliver them from their distress and He will defeat the Antichrist.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Jesus is coming again, let's prepare to be rapturable.

Revelation 16:15 KJV
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Life application 

Flee to Jesus today, tomorrow might be too late. Search your heart and deal with every matter that could hinder you now. Live each day as if it's the last. Be practically expecting the coming of Christ. Remember anything that is not preparing you to make heaven, is preparing you to miss it. Be prepared.

● we turn to you in full repentance, to seek you with our whole heart, have mercy on us oh Lord.
● Oh Lord Jesus help to be constantly prepared for your return.
● Lord Jesus, I receive the grace to be steadfast in you.
● Lord Jesus, the grace to practice your kingdom daily.
