Luke 17:5-6 KJV
And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [6] And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

The Apostles made a very sensitive request from our Lord Jesus Christ. They have come to understand the importance of faith, so they needed it big, hence they asked Jesus for an increase in faith.
The question now is faith growing us?
The answer is No.
Rather we grow in Faith. We were the one that became born again through faith in Christ, so we are to grow again in faith.
Let's understand Jesus's answer to them;

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
Jesus was always ready to each, more so, on weighty matters like  Faith. If there was really a way and a need to increase our faith size, Jesus would have given it immediately. But Jesus comparing the faith, that works so great a miracle, with mustard seed, was simply implying that faith wasn't in sizes.
Faith is not in sizes, it's either you have faith or you don't.

Our problem when we are not growing in faith is simply that we are still faithless on some matters. That was why Jesus called them people of little faith in some cases.

When your head aches and you prayed on it in faith and you got healed immediately, but you found out you had Malaria the first thing you cried out for medication and you never considered praying.  That means your faith is little and that regarding Malaria, you are faithless.
Mind you, that very same faith that healed the head ache is enough to heal Malaria and even to raise the dead.

How do I grow in faith?
Romans 10:17 KJV
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We grow in faith by deep and consistent study of the word of God.
The more exposed we are to God's personality, the more we find it easy to exercise faith in more aspects of our lives.

1 Peter 2:2 KJV
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

A man's growth in the physical is often characterized by his independence from his parents, but your growth in the Spirit is characterized by your increasing dependence on God.
The more you depend on God the more spiritually matured you are.
