Topic: Praying the will of God (Discipleship, prayer)
1 John 5:14-15 KJV
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: [15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
After a ministration in a revival program at a church, I sat down waiting for who will lead me to my lodge, a young lady met me asked a question about prayer. Matters of prayer has always been raising questions in the heart of Believers.
This was her question "how can I pray longer? Whenever I pray 5 minutes I don't know what to pray again" and "I see people praying longer as hypocrites, probably not really saying anything meaningful"
So I asked if she had any close friend, she said "yes of course".
I asked for the name of the closest friend, she told me her name. Then I asked for how long do they talk whenever she comes to stay overnight with her? She said "for hours, we'll keep talking while doing all what we want to do, cooking together and all other things"
Who tells you what to discuss with your friend?
"No one".
This is the secret, to tarry in the place of prayer, you have to be friends with Jesus beyond an empty proclamation.
So you involve Jesus in everything you do daily, that means your heart keeps praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV
Pray without ceasing.
Never cease to Pray!
Furthermore, only prayers made in accordance with the will of God gets answer, so don't just pray, pray the will of God.
Remember the third sentence of the all encompassing model prayer of Jesus Christ;
Matthew 6:10 KJV
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
So to pray well means to know the will of God, to know the will of God to commune with the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:11 KJV
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
You can study the Scripture till you know, the heart of God by His Holy Spirit. You will know what God says per time, by consistent study of th he Scripture.
"Studying to get God's approval"
Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
