Herald of Maranatha:
Fresh From God
Topic: Fighting temptations II (discipleship)
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
A lot of Christians get home daily after the day's activities to begin to count sins, error and transgression for the day, this makes them constantly sad and feel so unworthy.
Is this how Christian life should be all day long?
No!
Jesus promised peace, and not a constant feeling of unworthiness.
John 16:33 KJV
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
What's Jesus' provision for us to constantly live in victory over sin?
He paid the debt for us and he gave us the access to a righteous life in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
How do access Christ's provision?
You access it first by coming into Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Then watchfully maintaining a steady walk with Christ.
How can you watch to avoid daily regrets and errors of sin?
I. Meditate on God's word. Make God the first in your thoughts before any action. Let your joy constantly come from God.
II. Identify your regular pitfalls on daily basis and watch against them.
III. It is written His word. Search the scriptures for what has been written for your victory over such pitfalls.
IV. Keep claiming these scriptural promises and pray it daily.
V. Don't try to cope with the appearance of evil, flee!
1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
You can be free and happy in Christ daily with these.
1 John 2:1-3 KJV
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: [2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. [3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
John 13:17 KJV
If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
It pays to serve Jesus.
"Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace."
