Fresh From God
Topic: Would you rather have Him? (2)
Luke 10:41-42 KJV
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
A story I was told, in my childhood days has a deep moral lesson for us all.
There was a very rich man, who had a lot of possessions, real estate, farm, factories, slaves and every good thing you can think of, but he had only one child(son). Just before he died, he wrote in his will that his son was only entitled to one of all his possessions. After that all his wealth should be handed over to his chief slave.
When the cheif slave heard it, he started celebrating and jubilantly worked around inspecting the properties hoping and eagerly awaiting the day the day the son will pick one and the rest will become he's.
The son was so sad, "how could my father do so wickedly?" He said. The Will has been read and the son was given a little time to decide on what would pick. He went everywhere seeking advice on what will be best for him to pick. Finally, here comes the day he was to pick one possession and others would be handed over to the slave. Everyone was set in eagerness to know what his choice would be. The slave was proudly seated opposite the son alongside his friends that came to celebrate with him.
Suddenly the son made his choice, it was a very shocking one, he said "I choose the chief slave".
Everywhere went silent for a period. Immediately all the possessions were handed over to the slave and the slave handed over to the new master.
From that moment it's being said that "he who owns the slave owns his possessions".
That how the boy retained all his father's wealth.
Though this might a perfect story for my message, but at the long run, it pays to have God's full presence than to have some of His blessings. If you have Christ Jesus and you constantly dwell in Him, you'd have an access to all that is in God through Jesus.
I choose Jesus, today and always..
