Topic: Must I be rich?
(Matters of Life)
(Matters of Life)
3 John 1:2 KJV
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
From the text above Apostle John addresses the Believers, beloved of God, about their health and prosperity to be advancing correspondingly with the prosperity of their souls.
The difference between the rich and poor is information, not just that, understanding and relative wisdom. Being rich is having a great deal of money or assets; wealthy.
Were the children of God rich?
Yes they were.
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. [13] And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: [14] For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
The disciples of Jesus asked Jesus concerning their fate, poverty wasn't part of what Jesus told them, but entering into the kingdom of heaven is utmost priority.
Matthew 19:29 KJV
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
This is to align our lives to a focus towards God, that all our hope in Jesus is not for the riches of life but much more for heaven. As a Christian God has given us all we need to prosper on earth and get to heaven. The hands that does not work should not eat, so your hands needs to work and depend on God's blessings. All the blessings on earth belongs to God, so it should be in the custody of His children. How will it be in the hands of God children if you do not engage in godly businesses that will meet people's needs and in turns bless you?
God's principles has always encouraged working:
God gave the garden to Adam to keep it.
God rained manner from heaven and told the people to gather it daily.
God through Elisha, blessed the widow by multiplying her oil and told her to sell and pay her debt.
The principles of the word of God teaches us how to be rich and still maintain godliness.
Ephesians 4:28 KJV
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Having to give the needy signifies sufficiency. But Believers do not operate with the desperacy of "get rich or die trying". We live our lives to please God. Do not be desperate for riches, work and let God bless you.
Proverbs 22:29 KJV
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Genesis 13:2 KJV
And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Genesis 26:12-14 KJVThen Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. [13] And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: [14] For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.

Hundredfold as Jesus mentioned, indicates a physical possession and everlasting life our ultimate goal.
