Ephesians 5:22-25 KJV
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. [25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

There are lots of arguements on marriage regarding rights and responsibilities of both partners. These arguments has secretly stolen peace and joy away from the marriages. Even some young people are thinking of avoiding marriage, because of all these misconceptions.
Marriage was instituted by God, to be enjoyed and not endured, it's for a blessing not a curse or a plague to avoid.
Many people who entered into marriage with such lack of proper understanding, come into the marriage to compete with their spouse, to fight their in laws, to debate every matter, to win every arguement etc.
For us to get the best from marriage, let's go by our manual.
From the text two major tools were listed, with which the husband and the wife needs to be fully functional so as to maximize their joy in marriage. Wives have the tool called submission and the husband the tool called Love. They need to operate only with these tools, without any inclusion, and they are to do only what this tools allows them to do. Before you respond to your husband, thing it within does submission permit me to give such response?. Before you respond to your wife, remember does Love permit such response?
We need to also understand the magnitude of these tools just as described in our text. The ungodly can never use these tools, because it requires the understanding of the relationship between Christ and church.
The husband will have to love like Christ love the church and the wife submits as the church submits to Christ. This kind of submission is not like the one we give to our parents it's far exceeding that. It does not allow competition, arguements, debates or insults. Husband is also expected to love his wife more than his other relatives, father, mother, brother or sister.
If these tools are rightly used your marriage will be heaven on earth and heaven at last.
