And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. [7] And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [8] And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. [9] And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

There was a great light from heaven, what the symbolism of this light?

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

This is always the case, many people may see the light and not receive the message. All that were with Paul saw the light but only Paul received the message.  Whenever we study the word of God,  let's take the pain to calmly dig deeper because there's a message behind the light. The light shines on everyone but the message comes to someone who's really in quest of God.

Life application 

There's always a message for you in the word of God just dig a little deeper. Those who wait on the Lord always have their strengths renewed.
