Herald of maranatha: Daily Fresh From God
Topic: Excellent partial knowledge (Apostolic Revival)
Acts 18:24-25 KJV
And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. [25] This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
This wonderful preacher was excellent in the teaching of what he knew, but we realized that there was something more he was yet to see and know.
All Apollos knew was the baptism of John, but he never knew what John fore-ran had arrived.
"John 1:20 KJV
And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ."
"Luke 3:16 KJV
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:"
At this point Jesus has been made manifest, glorified, and the Holy Ghost has been given, but Apollos never knew this.
Though Apollos was an excellent teacher, but he needed to know the real deal, JESUS the baptizer with the Holy Ghost.
What kind of Christian are you?
Most of us are like this Apollos, knowing just a little and filled with self-confidence and satisfaction.
On the other hand like Apollos was humble and opened to accepting the knowledge of Christ, we also should be humble and openhearted.
"Acts 18:26-28 KJV
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them , and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. [27] And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: [28] For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ."
Now Apollos got the real deal, what about you?
"2 Peter 1:5-8 KJV
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Prayers: Lord Jesus, help me to know you more and grow in the knowledge of your word from day to day in Jesus name.
