Topic: Sins to abstain from II (Apostolic Revival)
Acts 15:19-20 KJV
Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: [20] But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
As we can see that the first sin outlined, was pollutions of idols, which signifies, not going back to our old ways (no backsliding).
Second is this: abstain from fornication.
Abstain means to restrain yourself from doing or enjoying something. Fornication is any sexual intercourse between people not married to each other, this could be involves adultery.
Fornication is NOT GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS!
When you're saved your body becomes God's temple and it must not be desecrated by impurities.
"1 Corinthians 6:18-19 KJV
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
That you are in a relationship hoping to get married does not justify you, courtship is not a license or yardstick to fornicate. That spouse traveled is also not a justification.
This same sin is what Satan has used in bringing down many preachers that are careless. God judges it Himself.
"1 Corinthians 3:17 KJV
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."
This, like the first, is addressing a consecration to God, away from defilement and pure love for our neighbors. This is a direct instructions to us too, it has not changed.
We should consecrate our bodies to God by our reasonable services to Him.
"Romans 12:1 KJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Prayers: Lord Jesus, keep me by your great power, may I not desecrate your temple which is my body in Jesus name.
Remain blessed
