Acts 11:27-30 KJV
And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. [28] And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. [29] Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: [30] Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
From our text today we can see a practical Christian life shown to us. The early Christians loved in deeds not in words, and they were really concerned about what others were going through, without discrimination or nepotism.
"Acts 4:32 KJV
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common."
The poor didn't feel poor, the rich didn't oppress as all he had was for everyone.
That was true Christianity. A lot of what we have now are just noise making, everyone glued to his money and possessions and the best we can give the needy is an advice not to give tithes or offering in the church.
The present day church doesn't care for others, christians are starving and dying in different parts of the world but nothing is being done.
The early Christians cared about each other, without anyone calling for a fund raising, they gathered up to send aids to those who were most affected by the dearth.
Remember, the dearth was universal, but in the midst of crisis they still have to meet the needs of their brethren, that's Christianity.
Are you a Christian?
Think about it.
