Acts 8:38-39 KJV
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. [39] And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Baptism is a vital ritual, that every believers must carry out.
"John 13:8 KJV
Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me."
Baptism as instructed by Jesus is in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, therefore washing and joining us into the body of Christ.
Not been baptized, makes one not to have a part in Christ.
"1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
Baptism cancels out differences among believers.
Baptism should be by immersion.
It symbolizes being dead, buried and rising with Christ. At death sand is not sprinkled on the corpse for burial, so baptism is not by sprinkling of water.
"Romans 6:3,5 KJV
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? [5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:"
Finally we should be free from sin, as we put on the nature of Christ in baptism.
"Romans 6:7 KJV
For he that is dead is freed from sin." (We can read the entire Romans 6)
Baptism is not optional it's a necessity.
