Topic: Kill that man
Colossians 3:5 KJV
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
The Lord ,Jesus Christ, demands some actions from us as soon as we confess Him as our Lord and saviour.
Seeking the kingdom of God with a total change of affection is very vital.
"Colossians 3:1-2 KJV
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."
This means only the things of God should affect you.
Further more God expects us to kill these old nature, listed in our text:
"fornication(sexual immorality), uncleanness(filthiness), inordinate affection(uncontrolled affection), evil concupiscence(strong sexual desires, lust), and covetousness, which is idolatry:"
We are to kill the old man and it's nature.
Some preachers have said it is not possible for Christian to live a life of victory above sin, that's a lie. Let's see what the scripture says further:
"Colossians 3:6-7 KJV
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them."
It indicates here that the people living such lifestyle are children of disobedience, just like we were before Christ saved us. That means anyone who is still exhibiting such things is probably not genuinely saved.
May God help us to kill the sinful nature completely in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, I set my affection on you and I kill the old man and it's nature completely in Jesus name.
Remain blessed
"God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, ’I love you.’" (celebrating one of God's Generals, Billy Graham)
