Topic: Man of God
1 Timothy 6:11-12 KJV
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. [12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
From previous verses of this chapter some things were explained there, those were the things referred to in our text which says we should flee those things.
"1 Timothy 6:5-6 KJV
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. [6] But godliness with contentment is great gain."
This is telling us that material acquisition referred to as gain does not equate to godliness.
So we should not make material things the focus of our lives.
"1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Verse 11 says man of God it refers to all of us today as far as we have given our lives to Christ not just the pastors, prophect etc.
Six things we are to follow were listed there,
"righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. "
Are you there and you follow after five of these and one is left out? Let us examine our lives.
Finally we are admonished to take hold on eternal life, that's what matters, this present life is temporal so let's live it in righteousness and obedience to God, so we can enjoy eternal lives.
God will help us all in Jesus name.Amen.
Prayer: Help me to live my life with eternity in view.
Remain blessed.
"God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, ’I love you.’" (celebrating one of God's Generals, Billy Graham)
