Herald of maranatha:Daily devotional
Topic: Foundation of the Apostolic Revival.
Acts 1:5 KJV
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Jesus was departing from the disciples but he needed to prepare their hearts for the greatest revival ever.
Jesus reminded them of John who was a forerunner to Him, who announced the greatest ever (Jesus's vicarious death).
"John 1:29 KJV
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
John incited a revival that silenced the religious Pharisees, the revival that brought them to the wilderness with humility.
John did the baptism of repentance for people and he prophesied that Jesus was going to be the baptizer in the Holy Ghost.
If a revolutionary revival through John baptizing with water could be so great, how great should the Apostolic Revival be, through the baptism of the Holy Ghost by Jesus Himself.
Jesus the baptizer laid the foundation, that's none other than The Holy Spirit.
There were a lot of religious sects then, just as we have now, and everyone believed he was the right one. So it required the Holy Ghost coming to make the difference, "not by words but by power".
"1 Corinthians 2:4 KJV
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:"
This revival wasn't by some group of radicals perverting the word of God, it wasn't a protest or rebellion, it was a pure manifestation of the Spirit of God.
There was no room for doubt in the Apostolic Revival movements, everyone was baptized by the Holy Ghost, even the religious leaders secretly turned to Jesus.
"Acts 6:7 KJV
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith."
This is what we need now, individually and the church at large.
Are you ready for the revival?
We are coming back there!
Prayer: Oh Lord establish me on the foundation of true revival, baptize me with The Holy Ghost.
Remain blessed
"God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, ’I love you.’" (celebrating one of God's Generals, Billy Graham)
