Topic: Self-deception
Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Deceiving is terrible, being deceived is dangerous but self deception is worst above all.
In our daily Christian life we need to watch and be sure we are still standing firmly in faith.
"2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"
We call Jesus Lord, we are also called Christians(a name with Christ), but are living in His will?
To work in His will means to depart from iniquity.
"2 Timothy 2:19 KJV
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
Working iniquity will definitely hinder people from entering heaven.
So we shouldn't indulge in anything sinful even if approved anyone, your parents, mentors or pastors. Our standard remains the word of God, not the word of any human.
If anyone succeed in deceiving himself, he is a done-deal for the devil.
Let's live daily with the assurance of our stand in Christ, by always desiring and doing His will.
Prayer: Father Lord preserve me in your will, may I not live in self deception in Jesus' name.
