Philippians 4:12 KJV
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
We've heard many preachers giving false hope to christians, such as you will live in plenty, God supplies all your needs, as if there's nothing hard to face as christians.
Yes God indeed supplies our needs, but we might not have every sweet things at all times. A pastor once said that, many christians fail in the time of tribulation because they are not prepare for it. They were told everything will just work out smoothly and beautifully after accepting Christ.
I was ministering to someone some time ago, she said "can I try accepting Christ and watch for a while if things will be better for me?" I told her straight "nothing will be better if you want to test Christ, He won't come to prove Himself to you with some goodies so you can serve Him" " You only need to accept Christ, be sober for your past and desire to please Him, then He'll guide your future". By God's grace she gave her life to Christ and things turned around for her.
When we entice people unto Christ with goodies they don't have a solid foundation, they fall at the slightest chance. "John 6:26 KJV
Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled." People attracted to Christ by bread left Him in anger. "John 6:66 KJV
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him."
What did Jesus promise?
"John 16:33 KJV
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
May the Lord give us the grace to live in the victory of Jesus.
What does the scripture teach?
Godliness with contentment.
